SUMMARY:One Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Countering Hate Speech Through Art
DESCRIPTION:Participants: 8 per country (7 participants + 1 group leader)\nCountries: Austria\, North Macedonia\, Bulgaria\, Serbia\, Romania\, and Latvia \nProject Description\nWe decided to carry out the project because young people expressed strong interest in the topic\nof hate speech as one of the appealing issues that is strongly impacting them. In the process of\ncreating this application we discussed the topic and we agreed with our partners to use art as a\ntool to fight online and offline hate speech. Why? Art can provide counter narratives against hate\nspeech; Art provides young people an opportunity to get involved and fully express themselves.\nArt-based tools support the development of young people’s creativity and provide an\nopportunity for different types of expressions e.g.\, through photos\, theatre\, or creative writing.\nIt means that young people can experience a variety of tools. Moreover\, the tools can be based\neven on using non-verbal communities e.g.\, theatre. It means that even for young people who\ndo not feel comfortable to fully use English there is an opportunity to express themselves and\nwith others their perceptions and opinions. And it aims to meet the following objectives: \n● To encourage the participants to stand up against hate speech; \n● To develop skills of the participants to recognize and address online and offline hate\nspeech; \n● To raise participants intercultural competencies and make them aware of their own\nstereotypes and prejudices; \n● To increase competencies (knowledge\, skills\, attitude) of young people from participating\ncountries\, directly involved participants\, in the area of online and offline hate speech; \n● To increase participant’s creative competencies by using art-based methods and tools\nsupporting young people direct involvement and developing their competencies; \n● To raise knowledge of the participants on the Erasmus + Programme\, non-formal learning\,\nYouthPass and to empower them to continue to be active in the field of international\nyouth work; \n● To increase awareness of local communities of participating organizations on online and\noffline hate speech through follow up activities in the form of interactive presentations\nprepare and delivered by directly involved participants with the support of the group\nleaders; \n● To encourage young people who will be reached online through a series of 10 video\ninterviews with the participants of YE to fight online and offline hate speech and to get\ninvolved in the Erasmus + Programme. \n● To support creation of new project ideas\, with a special focus on the KA 1\, Erasmus +\nProgramme; \n  \nParticipant profile\n● Young people age 18 to 30;\n● Strongly interested in the topic of online and offline hate speech;\n● Looking for opportunities to increase their knowledge on the roots\, consequences of\nonline and offline hate;\n● To be able to increase their skills to recognize online and offline hate speech and to take\nsteps against it;\n● Strong interest in art and arts-based tools and methods\, be open to work on increasing\ntheir creativity;\n● Strong interest to explore the concept of non-formal education\, to increase knowledge\nand understanding of the YouthPass and the Erasmus + Programme;\n● Motivation to work on new project ideas\, visibility\, and dissemination of products\nincluding videos. \n  \nGroup leaders profile\n● Youth workers\, leaders with experiences in international youth field\, with non- formal\neducation based methodology; \n● With previous experiences in the field of youth engagement\, project management\, Erasmus\n+ Programme\, KA 1 – youth exchanges; \n● Being able to support the participants during project: to organize and implement preparatory\nmeetings\, to communicate with other group leaders in the process of preparation of\nprogramme\, to assist participants with arranging practicalities for YE\, to support participants\nduring YE\, especially to support their learning process and active participation\, to organize\nand to implement evaluation meetings with participants\, to support development follow-up\nactivities. \n● There is no age limit set for group leaders. \n  \nWorking method\n● Learning by doing method. \n● Ice-breakers and team building games to get to know each other. \n● Workshops will leave room for discussions and debates \n● Simulation games will allow us to identify current challenges of non-formal education and show possible measures that strengthen them. \n● These sessions will provide the participants with concrete ideas that can be implemented in their local communities\, thus ensuring an important multiplier effect. \nAccomodation and food\n \nAccommodation and food are 100% covered by the Erasmus+ programme. SUMMARY:Youth 4 Active Society
DESCRIPTION:Participants: 7 per country (6 participants + 1 group\nleader)\nCountries: Austria\, Poland\, Greece\, Spain\, Serbia\,\nRomania\, Turkey\, and North Macedonia \n  \nProject Description\nAlmost 30 years ago\, Roger Hart developed a model to describe the different forms of youth\nparticipation. He argued that participation was the process of sharing decisions that affect\npeople’s lives and the communities they live in. He believed that participation is the\nfundamental right of citizenship and an integral part of democracy. Thus\, at the center of Hart’s\ndefinition is decision-making. He describes participation as a ladder\, with levels of youth\ninvolvement ranging from nonparticipation to full participation. In that regard\, the European\nUnion’s youth strategy aims to ensure full participation of youth in society both as an overall\ngoal and as the main objective in its 5th field of action—participation—and puts its focus on\nparticipation in representative democracy\, supporting youth organisations and strengthening\nopportunities for learning to participate.\nGiven that\, with the Youth Exchange ‘Youth 4 Active Society’ We seek to gather 56 young people\nacross Europe and show them different ways of actively participating in the decision-making\nprocesses\, as well as the benefits from it on a personal and societal level. Therefore\, during this\nYouth exchange\, the participants will present and put into practice various non-formal\naddressing youth participation used in their countries. In that way\, we want to allow the\nexchange of methods and practices between young people and organisations coming from\ndifferent parts of Europe. \n  \nThe project’s objectives are set as follows:\n– to enable an exchange of different methods used in participants’ counties that contribute to\nactive involvement of young people in the decision-making processes\,\n– To increase young people’s understanding of the challenges of current Europe and to debate\npossible solutions and responses\,\n– To promote European values\, such as human rights and the rule of law\, active participation and\nsocial responsibility\,\n– To allow improving/acquiring presentation and public speaking skills\, communication skills\,\nteamwork\, leadership\, etc.\,\n– To create and disseminate a digital Toolkit with methods and tools addressing active\nparticipation of young people the decision making processes in society\,\n– To promote the Erasmus+ Programme\, Non-Formal Education (NFE) and Youthpass Certificate\,\n– To encourage intercultural learning and to promote cultural diversity. \n  \nProject programme\n \n  \nParticipant profile\n● Motivated to take part in a youth exchange and are interested in the topic of the project;\n● Motivated to implement the experience gained in the YE in their communities;\n● Motivated to build and support international partnerships that will be created during the\nYE for future Erasmus+ projects;\n● Age limit 18 – 25 years old\, preferred;\n● People who are willing to learn more about other cultures by sharing rooms with 3-54\nother people from different countries;\n● People who will be dedicated during the activities\, willing to take active participation\nand be part in creating the final project results \n  \nGroup leaders profile\n● youth workers\, leaders with experiences in international youth field\, with non- formal\neducation based methodology;\n● with previous experiences in the field of youth engagement\, project management\, Erasmus\n+ Programme\, KA 1 – youth exchanges;\n● being able to support the participants during project: to organize and implement\npreparatory meetings\, to communicate with other group leaders in the process of\npreparation of programme\, to assist participants with arranging practicalities for YE\, to\nsupport participants during YE\, especially to support their learning process and active\nparticipation\, to organize and to implement evaluation meetings with participants\, to\nsupport development follow-up activities.\n● There is no age limit set for group leaders. \n  \nWorking method\n● Learning by doing method.\n● Ice-breakers and team building games to get to know each other.\n● Workshops will leave room for discussions and debates\n● Simulation games will allow us to identify current challenges of non-formal education\nand show possible measures that strengthen them.\n● These sessions will provide the participants with concrete ideas that can be implemented in their local communities\, thus ensuring an important multiplier effect. \nAccomodation and food\n \nAccommodation and food are 100% covered by the Erasmus+ programme. The participants\nwill be lodged in “Die Lams” in Rettenegg\, Austria.
