Increasing Intercultural Competences and Awareness of Youth Workers (21.07- 29.07.2021)
The Erasmus+ Training Course “IICAYW” took place in the beautiful city of Graz, Austria, bringing together 30 youth workers from North Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Austria, Türkiye, Greece, Romania, Italy, Spain, and France.
Throughout the project, participants strengthened their competencies to deliver high-quality youth work at both local and international levels. They were equipped with new tools, knowledge, and non-formal education methods related to intercultural learning and cultural awareness.
As a result, the project contributed to improving the quality of daily work within the participating organizations in the youth field. Participants also enhanced their understanding of the Erasmus+ Programme, Youthpass, and international mobility opportunities, enabling them to better inform and motivate young people to engage in Erasmus+ activities and to confidently lead intercultural groups of youngsters.
Participants get in touch with theoretical approaches to intercultural learning, including ‘Model of Intercultural Sensitivity, ‘Dimensions’ of Cultures’ and more. They developed the skills to practically apply these approaches to their work with young people with the aim to increase their intercultural competencies and awareness. We analyzed the challenges, and obstacles of delivering youth work activities in intercultural settings and the participants get equipped with the skills needed to address them.
